Are you an Employer hiring an Allied Health professional? It’s tricky to know the checks and balances to undertake to ensure you hire an appropriate candidate. We recommend you perform the following checks relevant to your organization and role before proceeding to an offer.

AHPRA: Check the candidates AHPRA registration. You may find: Conditions on their registration | Suspension | Deregistration. Proceed according to AHPRA’s advisory and statutory requirements.

PROFESSIONAL BODY: Not all Allied Health qualifications require AHPRA registration. Rehab Counsellors can register with ASORC / RCAA: Exercise Physiologists can register with ESSA. Check the candidates Professional Body registration if relevant to your role.

VISA: Does your candidate have the appropriate work permission as per their Residency Status, i.e. A work Visa / Permanent Residency / Temporary Residency / Citizenship?

DEGREE | PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Ask to sight the original copy of each degree and Professional Development undertaken.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Check out their profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook, Insta, TikTok, Twitter etc. What pops up when you Google them?

PROFESSIONAL REFERENCE CHECKS: Perform reference Checks with two recent Managers that the candidate reported to.

PROBITY CHECKS | WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK: Undertake a Police Check | all Working with Children checks if relevant to your role. You can make an offer conditional on the outcome of the Checks.

If you are happy with the results of your checks, then go ahead and make an Offer.

We wish you all the best with your newest Talent.
